The Screening Room Theater is located in Portland's historical Film Row. Now privately run, it was formerly known as the Star Film Exchange from 1933-1981.
During its operational years, movies were screened for theater chain operators and Portland's Censorship Board. The Screen Room was also used to screen movies for VIP's, friends and employees. This building was the true hub of Film Row and housed the
regional distribution offices of major studios like Universial, Paramount, Warner Bros. Pictures, 20th Century Fox, RKO Pictures and Star Film Exchange's Screen Room.
The beautiful interior, ambience and rich history of this historic site make it a unique and memorable place for hosting a variety of events including private screening, small performances, presentations or meetings.
